As the grandson and son of a miner, Steven Carmody seemed to have a career path set in stone. However, his enjoyment of building things as a young boy and a love of organisation inspired him to pursue a civil engineering career.

In 2023, RoC Consulting joined forces with Salford City College to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the civil engineering field.

Careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are widely celebrated at RSK. Across the group, colleagues volunteer as ambassadors, sharing their experience and passion to inspire young people to pursue STEM careers. One person who knows first-hand how rewarding such a career can be is Lenka Simonova.

Since October 2023, RSK’s new community of graduates has been working in businesses across the group. To find out more about their experience so far, we wanted to hear from the graduates themselves.

Having completed a degree in fine art, Elena Brake went on to pursue a career in art and education, or at least, that was the plan.

Last month Kate Brown, a finance team leader at RSK Group, took a gruelling six-day hike to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. The expedition was in support of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool, UK. Kate decided to support the hospital after treatment her niece received in 2022.
